My Top 9 Strategies To Succeed In Minecraft Parkour
Minecraft Parkour might be a pretty easy game for anyone to grasp, but you’ll need a lot of precision if you intend to beat the best of the best.
1. Understand The Different Types of Jumps.
To succeed in Minecraft Parkour, you have to understand that the way you jump, how you make the jump, and how you land will play a major role in your quest to conquer the map in record time.
It’s important to always decide on the type of jump you want to do before even taking a step in the direction of your next jump. Doesn’t sound too complicated, right? So decide if you’re going to make a walking jump, a sprint jump, a standing jump, a momentum jump, or a corner jump.
2. Line Your Jumps According To Your Distances.
While the distances between where you are and where you want to jump to will vary all the time, it’s important to know your distances and line up your jumps accordingly. If you plan on hitting many of your longer jumps, you have to carefully line up the surface you’re jumping from with the surface you’re landing on.
3. Always Crouch When You Land.
Many new Minecraft Parkour players don’t realize this trick until they’ve fallen too many times. Crouching helps to prevent you from overrunning when you land.
4. Stay Crouched.
Kudos! You made that awesome jump and didn’t overrun your landing. Now, most people make the mistake of standing up while they prepare for their next jump. However, staying crouched keeps you safe from falling off the block, and you can easily maneuver around a block while you line up your next jump.
5. Master Your Space.
When someone tells you to watch your shoulder, I guess now is the right time to listen. Many players make the mistake of hitting their shoulders on blocks that protrude after making tight corner jumps. To succeed with these jumps, it’s important to master the space taken up by your character and try to tilt your character while making corner jumps to avoid hitting your shoulder and falling to your death.
6. Watch Your Head.
This is a no-brainer; if you’re watching your shoulders you should obviously be watching your head, right? Well, as it turns out, head hitting is one way Minecraft Parkour frustrates many players new to the game. Some blocks are cleverly placed and difficult to avoid hitting your head when you jump. So before you jump, be sure to look around properly. For more successful long jumps, run and jump right from the very edge of the block.
7. Combine The Momentum Of Jumps.
One trick I use to easily make long jumps is this: I always try to run, do a nice jump, then as soon as I land, I immediately follow this up with the main jump. This allows my character to tap into the momentum generated from the run up and the first jump to allow me to cover longer distances with the final jump.
8. Get Familiar With The Dimensions of the Block.
It’s easy to get carried away trying to beat the record time that you fail to pay attention to structural details. Before you make your next jump, take that fraction of a second to study the dimensions of the block you’re on and how much space you have to maneuver.
9. Beware of Slime Blocks.
Slime blocks are known to bounce players awkwardly, so remember NEVER to hold or press jump when you land on slime blocks. If you hold or hit jump when you land, you could kill yourself in the process.
